La Daguenière / Angers Centre

Longer trips

By lav, on 07/11/2011

From La Daguenière, get to the centre of Angers by passing through the historic slate-mine region, an area shaped by 600 years of mining, the trail winds through a spectacular, other-worldly landscape of rocky outcrops, quarries which have become lakes and outbursts of vivid colour provided by the local flora.  Another curiosity along the way: a chain-pulled barque to ferry you across the river Authion.

  • Distance : 16 km
  • Duration of the trail : 1 h 30

This "Loire à vélo" is a great idea and well done for all your work finding such a clever way for exploring your very beautiful region. We do a lot of cycle-camping and can but heartily recommend the Port Caroline camp-ite at Brain sur l'Authion: you won't find a nicer team running camp-sites, they are especially welcoming to cyclists, the place is very green and peaceful and away from the main traffic routes, with a swimming pool and games and what's more, all at a more than reasonable price for cycle-campers. Some of the best hospitality that we've had at any campsite in France!
