Sully sur Loire/Chateauneuf
The route begins in Sully-sur-Loire, entrance point to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Loire Valley region.
After a good look around the impressive medieval fortress, push on to Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire to see its Benedictine abbey. Another short ride will take you as far as the first great monument of Christian art in western Europe: the Carolingian oratory at Germigny-des-Près, built by one of Charlemagne’s contemporaries. This stage ends in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire, with its museum detailing the history of man’s relationship with the Loire.
