The château of the dukes of brittany - Nantes
Its thick walls struck terror into assailants while providing protective shelter for those who has crossed the drawbridge and were inside. The château of the Dukes of Brittany has seen many a historic figure and important event!
It was here in the residence of the Dukes of Brittany that Duchess Anne was born. She went on to become Queen of France... twice (by marriage to Charles VIII then to Louis XII)! 120 years later, it was here that King Henri IV signed the famous Edict of Nantes granting religious freedom to Protestants.
Fully stored and reopened in 2007, the château of the Dukes of Brittany is today home to one of the richest history museums in France: a collection of 800 works, items and documents exhibited in some thirty or so rooms.
