Anjou towns: small in size, big in character

The big cities are not the only places with outstanding heritage! The small towns of Anjou often conceal many wonders. The “Small Towns of Character” label is awarded to small towns and villages in the Pays de la Loire seeking to promote their finest assets.

7 adorable villages have been awarded the label along the Loire à Vélo route: Montsoreau, Turquant, Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault and Le Thoureil (between Saumur and Angers), Béhuard, Savennières and Saint-Florent-le-Vieil (between Angers and Nantes). They all boast their share of the Loire Valley’s rich historic heritage, often built in the light-coloured local tuffeau stone.
